  • Understanding fashion - the core of what makes editorial and fashion photography tick.
  • Model testing - what is involved - how to spark a bookers interest and gain access to shooting their models.
  • Model portfolios - what they look like and things to consider when shooting tests.
  • Getting paid model tests - what to charge and how to go about it.
  • Communicating with bookers and organising shoots - what the photographer should provide and communicate to the agency.
  • Posing  - The difference between commercial, glamour and fashion poses. Do’s and Donts.

10.30 - 10.50am

  • Break - tea coffee and biscuits provided.

10.50 - 12.30pm

  • Building a team - where to find other creatives to work with and what to consider.
  • Planning a fashion shoot
  • Pre planning - What’s involved.
  • Concept development - inspiration being aware of current trends.
  • Casting /model choice - choosing the right model for the overall theme.
  • Team - who is involved and what are their roles.
  • Location - permits where you can and cant shoot and how to get a permit.
  • Story boarding and communicating your ideas to your team.
  • Lighting - Options and what to consider when shooting fashion and beauty.
  • Treatments in Photoshop.
  • Beauty Photography
  • Casting - what to consider
  • Angles and posing.
  • Lighting - simple effective lighting techniques.
  • Makeup Direction.
  • Shooting a beauty series - tips and tricks.
  • Equipment using different modifyers.
  • Questions.

12.30 - 1.30pm

  • lunch - You must provide your own lunch - there are cafes nearby.

1.30 - 3.15pm

  • Beauty in the studio two models two looks each.
  • You see Fiona and her team in action - working with two different models to create two different looks.
  • Everything we covered in the morning is put into action and you have the chance to observe and ask questions.

3.15 - 3.30pm

  • break - Tea coffee and biscuits provided.

3.30 - 5.15pm

  • Fashion
  • Fashion Photography in the studio Two models two looks each.
  • This time you see Fiona shooting fashion and also see her wardrobe stylist in action.
  • Lighting for fashion and tweaking it to work with each model.
  • The importance of creating a look/theme and working with poses to emphasise that look.
  • Building a series of shots that work together.

5.15 - 5.30pm

  • Questions and wrap up.

Please do not take any photos of the models during the workshop. I have assistants that will be documenting the day and the models are released for my images only so no photos must be taken of them during the demos/day. You can take a photo of the setup if you like after we are finished but the information will also be provided in the notes.
Please wait till after we have finished as it can also be distracting for the other participants.
